Effective dry eye treatment
At L'Oeil, we are committed to delivering exceptional eye care. As experienced optometrists, we specialize in treating patients with dry eye syndrome (DES) by offering advanced, effective therapies that not only alleviate symptoms but also target the underlying causes of dry eyes. Our goal is to enhance our patients' quality of life by reducing their reliance on artificial tears, and in many cases, eliminating the need for eye drops altogether (results may vary based on the initial severity of the condition). Additionally, our treatments help reduce the frequency of eyelid styes, improve contact lens comfort, and may provide relief from digital eye strain.
A personalized approach
Our dry eye consultations begin with a comprehensive questionnaire to assess the severity of your symptoms. We then use advanced diagnostic tools to identify the underlying causes, including binocular vision screening, tear film and ocular surface evaluation, and an assessment of the meibomian glands’ structure and function including meibography. Based on the findings, we create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs, utilizing a combination of in-office and/or at-home therapies. After completing the treatment, we reassess its effectiveness to ensure optimal results.
Our Advanced Therapies
Intense Pulse Light
Intense pulsed light (IPL) therapy by inMode delivers a comfortable light treatment that is increasingly recognized as the gold standard for the effective treatment of dry eye, blepharitis and ocular rosacea. IPL targets blood vessels and pigments, resulting in significant reduction of inflammatory levels on the ocular surface and along the eyelid margins, destruction of bacteria and demodex mites around the eyelids, and improved function of the meibomian glands. As an added bonus, patients may experience improved skin texture as well as decreased redness, sun spots, and hyperpigmentation.
Radiofrequency
Forma-I by inMode is the only radiofrequency treatment approved by Health Canada indicated to help improve dry eye disease secondary to meibomian gland dysfunction. It heats the tissues in and around the meibomian glands, which helps to melt any thickened or clogged oils within the glands, improving their ability to secrete healthy oil. The treatment improves gland function, enhances oil production, and helps stabilize the tear film, alleviating dry eye symptoms. As an added bonus, patients may experience skin rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction as RF technology helps to stimulate collagen production.
Zest Deep Cleaning
Zocular Eyelid System Treatment (ZEST) is an in-office okra-based cleaning and debridement system that works by gently exfoliating the eyelids to restore their natural state, leaving the eyelids and lashes feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. It is an effective treatment for killing demodex mites, removing dirt, debris, and relieving inflammation.
